Halcyon Steppe Iris & Daylily Farm The Drought Plant Halcyon Steppe Iris and Daylily Farm, McAlinden, started out ten years ago with 80 different tall bearded irises and a couple of visitors to see the first flowering. Since then Greg and Margaret’s collection has expanded to include several hundred varieties of water iris (Louisiana iris) and Shade (North American native iris) Purchases of varieties bred in the eastern states and overseas combined with an extensive hybridising program has seen the TALL BEARDED iris collection expand to over 4000 different cultivars. Late October early November flowering produces an explosion of colour that delights and amazes the many visitors on open days. The open days this year are Sundays October 25th, November 1st, 8th & 15th , any other times need to be made by appointment for groups. Plants are available at the stall at the Market at competitive prices. We have many colours each month. Also we will have an IRIS display with 30 different irises to see. |
